Collection Development-
Art and collecting are not just for the well off! Starting a collection can be a daunting task. It’s a very subjective one that takes time and effort. Through a series of consulting conversations, I can help you discover what your motive is, what you may find beautiful and what you want your collection to say about you. The desire to acquire art is a time-honored endeavor to reflect your values and intellect. It can also be one of joy and passion bordering on obsession. Whether it’s to support local artists, enliven your environment, or develop a serious understanding of a specific area of collecting, we will discuss at length just how you can go about achieving your goals.
Art and Collection review-
It’s a process. This is a process of taking a fresh look at what you’ve assembled and discussion to the deeper nature of what your collection or art means for you. It can involve refreshing through new acquisitions and/or deaccessioning. It will also involve where you want your collection to take you which could be new directions of study to further your collecting goals.
Home Edit-
Private interior consulting. My intent with this is to share my experience and knowledge with you for a one-to-one interior coaching session in your home. The result is to help you develop a plan to revive and renew your living environment. This begins with ascertaining what your personal style is or could be, what you may need to study, and what in your environment is not supporting your goals currently. If desire I can also help you with acquiring the thing’s you’re missing through shopping trips and in home styling, please note I do not do interior design as a separate . I do not do the interior design; I teach you how to do it for yourself. A true home edit is just a platform for you to jump off into creating the home of your dreams- not a task for the distracted or faint of heart.
Classes:
For small groups I can offer an overview of aesthetics, it can be focused on any of the following or an overview of them all.
Personal Aesthetics-
How to find and develop your style. The Way, What and Why of Taste. This talk goes into the idea of beauty and the senses. How you are interacting with them all day, every day and how you can pull more into your life more often. Through this discussion the traditional idea of beauty will be explored along with thoughts on editing your home, reviving it and exploring what your taste could be if you dared to look a little deeper in to what it really means to you.
Art and Collecting-
What will stir your passion? What will make you get out of bed to bid live online auctions in the middle of the night. How do you figure out how to start a collection. Learn how to study and focus in on what will fill your visual senses so you are moved to make that 3am bid. We’ll explore resources and options there are for collecting, caring for and tracking your acquisitions.
Interiors and Collection Display-
If you’ve been at all awake in the 21st century you know the term minimalist and undoubtably are familiar with the declutter movement. In this talk we’ll blow this concept apart, deciding what it really means in context of our homes. Exploring how to edit your current home and objects, how to consider going forward with new objects as time goes on. Planning for displaying your collections for maximum enjoyment in your living environment, learning the basics of layering, display and tablescaping. This will also touch on taste and esthetics to create a beautiful living environment and how to avoid fake Wabi-Sabi at all costs.
